Idaho Falls and the Snake River This image is part of a series of aerials taken by the Army Air Corps in 1925 by Stevens, A.W. Capt. Arial View of North Idaho Falls. This is probably taken in the late 1940s or ealry 1950s. The road in the Center of the photo is Anderson. Pinecrest Golf Course is in the upper right corner. The road in front of the Golf Course is Yellowstone Hightway. The next road down is Holmes. Arial View of the Idaho Falls Stockyards Located about 775 Northgate Mile where the Law Enforcement Complex is located in 2026. Livestock auctions were held here almost every day during the summers. Horses one day, cattle another, pigs and sheep and other livestock on other days.

A relay station was built near the City Central Power plant located on the Snake River near Capital and Broadway where the City Electrical building now stands.April 13 1939 In 1939 the City of Idaho Falls purchased the Lower Dam and Power Plant fro Utah Power. They rebuilt the aging dam built in 1911. The damis located about 8 miles ourth of the City Central Power plant. Address was 8635 South 35 West. Now knonwn as the Gem State Power plant and dam. Gem Lake Recreational Area was created building of this dam. Sears was located on A Street downtown but then a new store was built at 1515 Northgate Mile on the corner of Northgate mile and Anderson Sears under construction August 1959 ground breaking ceremonies. Contruction continued through the the 1960s. The Grand Opening was in 1960 Sears Interior Departments Collage Sears had a lunch counter at the back of the store and a very popular candy counter in the center of the store. The Parking lot on the east side of Sears just before the grand opening and then the day of the grand opening Sears was attached to the Country Club Mall when it was built in 1971.
